Professor Mathew Trinca Talalin AM FAHA is a leading figure in museum practice, currently serving as Professor at the Australian National University and formerly as Director of the National Museum of Australia from 2014 to 2024. With an extensive background in arts and culture, he chairs the Board of Canberra’s Cultural Facilities Corporation and advises the International Olympic Committee as a Commissioner for Culture and Olympic Heritage. His commitment to the sector is further demonstrated through his roles on various arts boards across Australia. Prof. Trinca holds a Doctor of Philosophy in History from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Australia. He is recognized as an Honorary Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities and was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in 2020 for significant service to museums and galleries. Previously, he co-chaired the Australia Singapore Arts Group and has held leadership positions in ICOM Australia and Blue Shield Australia.
